I'm not really sure what you mean;  I was under the impression one
could update firefox from within firefox - I'm sure someone will
confirm.

Do you mean that you *know* you have, eg 512M of RAM, but that Suse is
only reporting 256M?  If the OS doesn't see the memory, maybe its
faulty, or not properly fitted.
