[Gllug] How does the debian installer decide which version you want?

I have a part-installation of Debian Sarge which I use for kick-starting
netboot installations. It was created by running the Debian installer
up to the point where it asks for the re-boot - in other words it
contains a basic installation and it's ready to start installing
packages.

The only problem I have with it is that the installation is convinced I
want to install "testing". No matter what I put
in /etc/apt/sources.list, my lines are commented out and replaced with
lines for "testing" when I select the server to use. I have to
interrupt the installation process, edit /etc/apt/sources.list again and
then select the required packages.

Does anyone know where the Debian installer stores the information about
what version to install? Presumably it's just a configuration file
somewhere but I've been hunting for some time without success.

TIA,
John
