also
to manually install the plugins
go to
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html
download all codecs
and extract it (as root) to ...
/usr/lib/codecs/ I think
I need to confirm this later.
alternatively install mplayer, mplayer-gui, mplayer-plugins
and xine will share those.
