Good question, not really.  I think the way the most people work is that 
unless you specifically ask to be contacted offlist (such as with my 
gmail account offer) then you should expect your question to be answered 
on list.  The reply-to header for list messages is munged to direct 
ordinary replies back to the list anyway.
