Thanks for the info.  This player is already grounded on the
photo-stage - its not a 50Hz buzz, its a consistent and loud crackle -
not a 'vinyl crackle' as the crackle is non-existent through the hifi
amplifier.

I've heard this sort of thing before - I am sure its fan-related!
