Actually, AIUI, it does, because the 802.11g stations have to indicate
to any 802.11b stations present that they need to reserve the medium.
To do this they need a longer interframe gap when 802.11b stations are
present than they would otherwise use.
Can't remember the figures off the top of my head though.
