You seem to think that the debian versioning scheme is also being used 
by CentOS, which is not the case.

Redhat does quarterly updates to the main distro tree, they name these 
updates as U1 / U2 / U3 etc. CentOS prefer to call these updates as .1 
.2 .3 etc. What you have is basically CentOS4 with all updates upto U2 
rolled in ( therefore 4.2 ).
