I bought a Lexmark C510 colour laser printer a few weeks ago for less than 
£200 (plus VAT). The print quality is pretty good and, most importantly, 
it's a proper postscript printer so drivers are not an issue.

The toner isn't too badly priced - about £200 to fill it with separate 
CMYK toners which should last over 6000 pages.

It is a fairly large beast though so you need a bit of spare desk space 
for it - about as much as an old HP LJ4.
