HP LaserJets are excellent printers. I recommend getting both the
PostScript option and a JetDirect card. It makes using them in Linux or
indeed any sort of *nix and even WinNT/2K/XP a complete doddle. No
messing around with ghostscript, short parallel cables and having to
have a box running as a print server (unless you have any horrible old
Win9x boxes around).
I have an LJ4000 which cost about £300 on eBay, plus about £40 for a
high capacity toner cartridge which is now about 2 years old and still
going strong. It's a big heavy b****r but otherwise can't be faulted.
You can always get a dirt cheap colour inkject for very occasional use
but I don't think picture quality ones come that cheap.
