[Gllug] OT: unix on windows

Hi,

I just started a new job where the corporate PC runs windows only (plus
this is my first experience with lotus notes but let's not go there!).

At home and in my last post linux was/is my O/S, so I've not been in
this situation for a while. I'm wondering what gllug users can suggest
to ease the transition.

I've set about making myself feel at home by installing cygwin and
working mostly in that environment through rxvt. I will expand this to x
under cygwin next week. Any tips on gotchas for this appreciated (I have
two monitors and have seen the FAQ to use -multiheaded). Oh - and
filezilla server was an ftpd I grabbed to scratch an itch. There may be
better out there but it did the job.

Any other ideas for unix tools outside of cygwin that you find useful
would be of interest.

Not directly linux but I hope people can sympathise.

Thanks,

Ben.
