a couple of quick googles and you have these:
generic mysql install howto:

mythtv specific mysql installation/setup:

mysql is pretty easy from a simple setup. all you should need is mysql
started from the init script (pgrep it to check it's started) then
create the database for mythtv by reading in the supplied config file,
as here:
