As the manufacturers know full well that kids will try this, they add a
flame retardant to it. As you noticed, it still burns really quite well.
If you recrystallise it to remove the "impurities", it *really* goes. I
suggest not trying this - you can quite easily remove chunks of your
anatomy with chlorate if it's confined....
