[Gllug] VACANCY: Linux sysadmin, Soho

First an admission - I'm only a temporary subscriber to the list. I
was referred here through the PHP-London mailing list. I hope I'm
correctly following the commercial posting policy and not bothering
you too much, but if I am, my apologies.
Anyway, the ad:
Hampered by our boss' loathing for the whole concept of recruitment
agencies, our last two developer/techs were found by putting up a
postcard in Slimelight (the goth nightclub in Angel) but we've come
to the realisation that this is specialising rather too much, and the
risk of an errant shaft of sunlight reducing our current sys-admin to
smouldering ashes is becoming ever greater as global warming
continues. Anyway:
Tui Interactive Media are looking for a professionally experienced
Linux/windows sys-admin to work in our Soho offices. You will be in
charge of both our small in-house network and hosted services running
primarily Trustix Secure Linux, but also Ubuntu Linux, (and
decreasingly) Redhat Enterprise. We also have (yeah, we know... :) a
couple of Windows IIS servers (though that's less important, since we
have competent Windows admins). You will need to be experienced at
the very least with:
* Apache & PHP configuration,
* networked server backups,
* server builds and configuration,
* managing DNS and mail systems, and
* windows domain service administration via Samba.
Any additional knowledge and experience you can bring to the table is
advantageous - for example load-balancing & clustering, VOIP, PHP,
Perl, Python, etc.; we're *really* interested in people who are keen
to maintain a balanced, curious and open-minded view on new
technologies vs. trusted solutions. Tui's a small 14 year old
internet design agency with great word-of-mouth reputation, big-name
clients, and an enlightened atmosphere (punctuated by episodes of
intense playground swearing). Email your CV to jobs at tui.co.uk -
please don't call us, especially if you're a recruitment agency.
Thanks!
