[Gllug] Rsync in daemon mode

What is the difference between using rsync to sync files vs. rsync in daemon mode?

If I want to rsync 2 sets of files I would use:

rsync /home/user1/  backup_server:/backup/user1/

Is there any reason I should set up backup_server as rsync server? What would be the advantage?
