Try just commenting out any lines which refer to resolutions or refresh
rates (put a # at the start of the line).

If it breaks things, just uncomment them. I wouldn't bother with YaST -
it might not be easy to persuade it that X can determine such things
automatically these days... then again, perhaps there's a "Use values
from monitor" option you can pick or suchlike..
