I concur. Two wrecked adding disks in the days of OS/2; one wrecked when
Linux's Device Manager support stopped working back in the 2.0.something
days and wrote garbage over the partition table...

... but then I discovered gpart. A number of patches to gpart later, and
I was home free. Strongly recommended (using gpart, not patching it, you
shouldn't have to do that, I hope).

It is of course killingly useful to have enough machines that the loss
of services on the machine that went wrong doesn't cripple your mad
(or at least panicked) l33t h4cking skillz. :)
