well, I am not sure what you mean by an underspecified platform - but 
doing a job better and faster at a lower cost is *always* something to 
work on. Perhaps, you have lots of lots more resources, I dont know - 
but this mail system is running off only 800mb/s links and has 80 TiB of 
storage behind the mail cluster.

And yes, we do consider open DNS to be expensive - it can add 
significant latency, which is one of the reasons why we download and run 
the rbl's and uribl's off local internal services.
