For all I dislike Oracle (and that's quite a lot), it does still
provide some features that can't be matched by the free software
databases. I use either PostgreSQL or Berkeley DB for virtually
everything I do these days, but for certain applications, they're
just not there yet[1].

[1] I'm talking about relational databases here. Berkeley DB is as
good (or indeed, better) than any closed source offering for its
target market.
