[Gllug] A SATA Raid card worth having?

Is there a SATA card that does hardware raid that is worth having?

Its for a home server to store pikkies etc. on, so performance doesn't
have to be hot.

Wondering whether having hardware raid is an improvement over software
raid with a pair of 300gb disks??

(I'm getting 3x of these, two in the raid, one somewhere else in the
house at the end of a wire to be rsync'd to).

Obviously must be recognised by linux for a not too tekky user!
