Hi

Another mailing list that I'm a member of is clubbing together to bid
for this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7581176936

There aren't many of these things in existence and the plan is to donate
it to a museum. The obvious choice was the Science Museum however,
having spoken the the Curator of Computing, they actually already have a
nonworking one and try not to accept duplicates for reasons of storage
space.

The curator did think that other museums would love to have one of these
on display, and suggested, for one, the National Museum of Photography,
Film & Television ( http://www.nmpft.org.uk/about/background.asp ) and
encouraged us to try to win the item if possible.

Here's where you come in: The pot currently stands at £330 and that's
unlikely to be enough to win the auction. If you would like to pledge
some cash towards the pot then please contact me offlist and I will add
you to the pool. There's no minimum limit, but the typical contribution
has been £20 and the lowest contribution so far is £10.

Helping this scheme out won't immortalise you, but you might just get
your name on a very small plaque somewhere in a museum.

Thanks in advance for your support

Martin A. Brooks
