There was a thread about a server disappearing. Munin graphs were
published. Before the server disappeared, the process graph went
up at a constant angle, as did IIRC the memory usage. Eventually, the
machine stops responding.
So I installed Munin on the machine that was disappearing here. Exactly
the same behaviour when it crashes.
My current stage 2 diagnostics:
do
ps aux > /var/log/processes/`date +%Y-%b-%d_%H_%M`
every 5 minutes, and tell cfengine to clean out after two weeks.
Wait for the next crash.
