Well Novell are perfectly entitled to give a share of their profits to
Microsoft if they want to, I for one don't care :-)
The real questions:
(1) What are these supposed patents which cover Mono and OpenXML?
(2) Will these patents hold up in court?
(3) Should these patents hold up in court?
(4) Will anyone have the guts & money to try and oppose these patents?
In my view it is highly unlikely that Microsoft hold any valid patents
that cover Mono [.Net] or OpenXML, since what these programs do can
hardly be described as inventive. In any case since they're software
patents they don't (yet) apply to any of us.
