I listened to the TechCrunch podcast yesterday and they interviewed  
most of the staff from Media Temple.  It is worth a listen if you are  
looking for this sort of thing.

They talk about Amazon's solution as something that they _aren't_  
trying to replace.

Also, they speak about nameless hosting companies with lots of  
reference to sub-par backup and disk I/O systems.
