First thing's first, make completely sure you can actually do the work. 
  Nothing, absolutely nothing, pisses a new client off more than you 
quoting half a day for a job and it taking you significantly over the 
time you state.

Also get the specification in advance and come up with a series of 
criteria to be met by the system post-install.

"This system will be deemed to be working correctly if...."
