When I were lad, 72 columns were all we had.
Six characters is plenty for variable names.
Upper case is the only way for Real Men to program, not quiche eaters.
And Hollerith constants are just fine - what do you mean your pansy
program produces something called "web pages" for Jacinta to look at on
her "cute little Mac". Real Programs (TM) spit out vast scrolls of
numbers for Mars landers, as any 1970s film can confirm.
