Where you've got to be careful is CD burners. All three of my CD burners
lock up the IDE bus completely during finalization, which can easily
be fifteen to twenty seconds. (Obviously I have them all on separate
controllers shared only with other CD burners and CD-ROM drives; nothing
else can really tolerate delays of that magnitude.)
