Especially when it comes to long term support. With an outsourced specialist
solution the team who built it are redeployed on other stuff. Requirements
of these specialist projects change - this leads to huge problems if no one
understands how it works.

There is a good argument for getting outside help in design/implementation
but only if the in house team work hand in hand with the external people.

With 'generic' stuff you can get external people.
