Isn't this one of the official reasons for the ribbon in Office2007?
User feedback apparently said that people did not what was available to
them because it was buried deep in the menu syste. MS answer = change
the menu even more!

My particular beef with that decision is that it's quite likely that
hiding the full menus until you hover over them long enough will have
lead to the user feedback.
