I'll have a good look at this. I had tried reducing the MTU on my laptop, 
alone and then also on the router, but it didn't magically fix the problem. I 
also noticed that the router used --set-mss instead of --clamp-mss-to-ptu, 
and tried changing that, but it wasn't the magic bullet either.
