But specific allowances are generally by regulation not legislation.

Moreover the age discrimination regulations arise out of the European 
Human Rights regulations which do apply to Acts of Parliament which must 
all comply with the Human Rights Act - the age discrimination regulations 
arose from a ruling at the european level.
