Ubuntu is Debian without the arrguments,

Debian suffers badly from rule by committee, Most of the software is
usally so far behind you have to run in experimental. Mind you Ubuntu
can suffer from the other end of the wedge in that not everyone like
the developers decisions....

This is where it all gets a bit political if you ask me.
