Yes. Don't keep your credit card numbers on the server in any plain text 
files with group-readable perms, and just give them a user account with 
appropriate permissions on the web files. There are lots of other things 
you could do, but if you aren't confident configuring Apache to serve 
files from wherever you want, I wouldn't recommend trying any of them :)
