Does Fedora Core not like KDE or summink?

What is RPM? And what are GPG key/signed packages?

Also when I put in telinit 3 into termial I got:

starting background readahead: [ok]
acpi_cpu freq  
(/lib/modules/2.6.18-1.2.798.fc6/kernal/arch/i386/kernal/cpu/cpufreq/acpi_cpu  
freq.ko): no such device
starting irq balance: [ok]

or summink along those lines and had to change to a different session.

I am doing the Teach Yourself Linux book ATM...

It says the exercises are targeted at Fedora I was using Mepis but it  
didn't have twm or mwm or didn't recognise the command. I prefer Ubuntu.
