Hi,
 Well thanks to all who replied, I will be trying:-

 wget -m -k -E http://your.site/

-m : mirror site
-k : convert links to a local reference
-E: convert pages (e.g. .asp cgi etc) to a page ending in html
 and hopefully I can take the site on site where there is no internet and 
never likely to be (there is just one phone in the village)
