My tongue was somewhat in cheek ;)

It's a reasonable summary of what they are doing though. Having a whole
app just for IM is a bit silly when usually what you want IM for is an
extension of something else (e.g. a quicker email than writing a real
email, or a quicker file transfer from $RANDOM_APP than saving and
uploading/emailing, etc)
