Well,  I guess HDTV will be well over twice the size of the equivalent DVD.

If a DVD is 600-odd lines deep and has say 800 pixels per line  (total guess !)
that comes out at 480,000 pixels,

HDTV I think is about 1000 lines, so I assume maybe 1300 pixels per line.
That comes out at 1,300,000 pixels!

Of course the above numbers are hopelessly approximate and off the top of my
head,  but I think they amply illustrate that HDTV requires a hell of a lot
more storage capacity.

I am sure someone on here with the actual numbers at their fingertips can
provide a much more accurtae figure.
