ROM means Read Only Memory
ROM that can be written to once only is Electrically Programmable ROM or
EPROM which can often be erased using UV light, although some have fusible
internal links.
RAM is Random Access Memory, normally read and write
EAROM is Electrically Alterable Read Only Memory which requires specific
conditions before writing is enabled.
Other names included Write Once Read Many
