I used to edit a newsletter, which, as is the nature of such things,
contained announcements, etc. 

On one occasion I received an item, obviously for publication - it had
been sent to the newsletter's email address - to which was appended a
notice informing me that I wasn't allowed to pass on this information!

Just so that everything was above board, I asked for clarification
from the sender. But it proved to me what bloody nonsense this all is,
