This is a red herring. The tax is taken as part of death duties on your
property. If you didn't own it, you would be able to leave it to your
children and your estate wouldn't have to pay duty on it.

There's no ambiguity about property here, while there is, apparently
with your CD collection. the question then is, why should you pay death
duty on CDs if you don't have the right to transfer the  to your heirs?
