Absolutely.  Hell, some of the best jobs I've ever had had paid me a
pittance.  I had enormous fun setting up and running an ISP and web
hosting service at the beginning of my career.  That's not to say
extra money wasn't needed or requested throughout the time that I was
doing this, but it was definitely a huge job satisfaction knowing that
I had managed an entire service like that.

As Tim says in his post about Equity - it's a lot tougher for actors
to get into their chosen profession.  My brother-in-law who is an
Equity member has to spend more time doing other things than acting
because it is extremely difficult to get the kind of roles that he
wants.  And even then it's not well paid.

That's showbusiness!
