"Talking to your neighbour over the fence is depriving AT&T of their
rightful revenue" as someone's sig quote has it.

Similarly, drying your washing on a line deprives the power companies of
money, and doesn't contribute to the economy.

We're dealing with broken economic models using legal powers to retain
their position.
