I take your point.

In which case the culture is the only thing that protects Linux from 
being the compost of spam and malware that Windows is. You don't need to 
be root to send an email: if users are this witless then no amount of 
inherent architectural virtue is going to stop them turning their Linux 
machine into a spam bot.

So I agree, we have a problem.
