[Gllug] firefox MIME plugin ?

Hello
 
I have a work email address and the email server at work will forward the content of the email into a single file to my hotmail address.  when the email has an file attachment  eg ms word format .doc file, the .doc file  for some reasons got translated into a block of digits and merged into the message file. The message as below:

My line manager adamant that i have problems with my computer because nobody else has problems like this.
 
Do you think my firefox need MIME plugin and how do I turn it on?
