Of course windows server is capable of "hosting a high-volume dynamic web site".
Of course from direct personal experience I know that for a large UK based
financial institution (purposefully left anonymous) they had to run 38 Windows
web servers split evenly between two data centers to handle their load. Again
from personal experience, a similar (but different) financial institution handled
a similar load on 4 Sun boxes running Apache backed up by 4 more running tomcat
split across two data centers. Hmm, 8 machines vs 38... Admittedly though, they
had 38 servers not just to handle the load, but because the windows boxes had 10%
down at any given time where the Sun boxes just ran. Remember, this is not
anecdotal evidence, I experienced this personally.
