[Gllug] LBA Formatting

Hello,
   I am trying to format a large new SATA disc as an external USB drive
using Debian. The disc is designed to be used in LBA mode, but it appears
that both fdisk and cfdisk display the drive in terms of cylinders, heads,
and sectors. There is a mention of using lost space, but no mention of LBA
mode. Should I assume that it would really be formatted in LBA mode? Would
it depend on the USB adapter?
