The bit I missed at first with my dvb card was that I needed to make
the firmware binary blob available to the card otherwise it didn't
talk to me.  dmesg was helpful in tracking down this issue.  I also
needed to install more than one driver, one of the tuner and another
for the decoder (I think).

I don't have my DVB-T card installed at the moment so I can't really
help further.
