[Gllug] Oyster cards vulnerable?

I get to Putney every weekday on South West Trains with my Oyster card. 
  I've also been out to Balham and Crystal Palace in recent months, and 
my Oyster travelcard worked just fine on Southern trains from Clapham 
Junction too.  It's the pay as you go that they don't accept.
