I should add that Three offer two different modems - a black one
(rectangular) and a white one (like an oval racetrack).  The white one is
the Huawei E220 and that one works.  The black one is a ZTE MF622 and it
doesn't (or at least, not without a lot of fiddling).

If you want to use yours with an eeePC, make sure you get the Huawei.
