Thanks for that, I had (as a LWN subscriber) read those articles before I 
started on this.  It struck me that there are all sorts of tools in this 
field, none of which seem to be particularly easy to use.

I'll have to look at the various options and see if I can find one which will 
do what I want that is to edit out the adverts on the non bbc stuff to make 
it easier to watch on th pc
