While at CERN in the sixties, I bought a Swiss watch, which was 
excellent except that it gained
a couple of minutes a week. The shop I bought it from checked it on 
their electronic gadget and found it accurate.
They refused on principle to set the watch slower.
The problem was solved when I put my arm half into a big magnet before 
remembering to remove my watch.
It kept perfect time for the next twenty years.
